Alpine and Latin
Situated at an altitude of 1850 metres, Orcieres is 'alpine' through to it's roots.
One foot on skis, the other in walking boots, the resort thrives under a sky that owes its purity to the 4000m plus summits surrounding it and the proximity of the Ecrins National Park.
Latin in climate and Latin in character, Orcieres gives you a taste of Provence, blessed by the sun, a cheerful and generous spirit, an art of living rich in tastes, smells and discoveries...
A Resort with Lots Going On
In both winter and summer Orcieres 1850 is an unrivaled base in the Southern Alps. There are, of course, all the activities you would expect: skiing, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, walking, mountain biking, mountaineering....
But more than that, at the heart of the resort itself, there are some exceptional and unique facilities:
- 3 Télémix ski lifts (chair lift and cable car mix)
- La Grande Ourse (sports and leisure centre)

There are a variety of friendly, family run hotels, self catering chalets, bed and breakfasts, two 'villages vacances' (large residences with entertainment and catering included), several new tourist residences and a huge choice of self catering apartments.

Good quality apartments, newly renovated and redecorated to a 3 star standard .... is one of Orcieres objectives and together with the resort's proprietors, they have set up 'Orcieres Patrimone' - a scheme to help update and renovate existing properties to a high standard.
Celebrate your holidays
Several big events set the pace in Orcieres throughout the winter:
- The Croisière Blanche, which reunites 4x4s, quad bikes and motorbikes on the snowy offroad paths in and around Orcieres and Champsaur in January.
- The Ski games, open for young skiers in March,
- The 'Trophées des Petits Champions' a European ice hockey championship competition for young players in April ...
