Weather Forecasts and Conditions in the Mountains


Throughout the season, the weather forecast is displayed at the Tourist Office and also at certain ticket offices (First Aid Post, Leisure Centre, Queyrelets). Up to date piste conditions (downhill and cross country) can be found at the Tourist Office and at the bus station office.

NIVOSE weather station on the Rocherousse


Météo France have a network of automatic snow measuring stations in the mountains. There are called "Nivose" and there are around twenty installed at altitude. The one in Orcieres was installed in 2007 at 2300m.


The weather stations work automatically and are powered by solar powered batteries and the information they collect is transmitted via the Meteosat satellite. The "Nivose" weather stations measure the height of snow by ultrasound.
