The Drac Noir river, in the municipality of Orcières, was awarded the‘River in Good Condition’ distinction in 2022, which guarantees the high ecological quality of its waters. The Drac Noir notably feeds the lakes at theOrcières Leisure Centre.

Since 2018, the‘Orcières Quality – Comfort – Accommodation’ labelhas offered holidaymakers numerous guarantees regarding the accommodation they will be staying in, which is classified by a number of ‘claws’: comfort, facilities, services…

Since 2026, the Orcières destination has been committed to providing a high-quality welcome for cyclists by rolling out the ‘Accueil Vélo’ label (Tourist Office, Hotel-Restaurant and the ‘O2 Area ’ campsite) to make cyclists’ stays easier.

For a clean mountain

Orcières is a mountain resort, which means it is popular in both summer and winter. Unfortunately, this high number of visitors generates waste. That is why, twice a year, we get together (the ski school, ski lift staff, property owners, shopkeepers, the town hall and the Tourist Office) to clean up the resort at the end of winter and at the end of summer. This initiative has been in place for years, and we’re quite proud to see that the amount of rubbish is decreasing year on year.

The Mountain Riders association has made this a national cause with the launch of the National Zero Waste in the Mountains Charter for 2030. The aim is to reduce waste at source so that the frequency of annual collections decreases, with the goal of achieving zero waste by 2030. A three-part action plan: reducing waste / raising awareness / collecting and assessing. Orcières is the only resort to have signed this joint charter involving the resort’s four key stakeholders (ESF, town hall, ski lifts and Tourist Office). Our goal: zero waste by 2030!

For a clean resort

Decree No. 2025-582 of 27 June 2025 prohibits smoking on the ski slopes, in queues and on ski lifts, in line with the rules applicable to sports venues and smoke-free areas. As part of this regulation and our commitment to the Zero Waste Charter, 14 ashtrays have been installed in the resort, 500 pocket ashtrays are being given out to holidaymakers, and the cigarette ends collected will be recycled by a certified organisation.

Waste management is everyone’s responsibility; you can find the locations of collection points on our interactive map under the ‘Practical Information’ section. We have collection points for organic waste, and five compost bins have been installed in the resort.
